Wrapping Up Pond Life
March 31, 2020
We had such a fun time with our Pond unit. We finished it up with lots of our students learning from home. This post may contain affiliate links. Experience Early Learning provided instructions on how to put together take-home packets. I started doing videos to teach the kids at home. The Peaceful Pond Invitation to Create project turned out beautifully. It was fun to watch them paint with water over the other things they colored.
Our backswimmer craft was fun to make and we found some videos of real ones for them to watch. Of course, backswimmers aren’t as colorful as these boys made them but that was okay. We love to encourage creativity.
They enjoy painting and gluing to create. The cattails activity even needed them to practice their cutting skills. They were working really hard to paint those craft sticks.
Every month we have several games in our curriculum. They are great for helping them count and take turns. We practice being excited for other people getting to the finish line before them.
The frog craft gave them cutting practice and coloring small pictures of frogs, which can be difficult to learn. They did have a good time making them and being silly for pictures.
We always have several I Spy pages. It’s great for all ages. The younger kids even benefit because they can name all the pictures instead of just the ones with that letter. Parents love it!
They decided these pattern blocks were fun again. They played with them for long periods of time for the entire week.
What’s your favorite pond animal? Mine is turtles!
