Read Across America 2021
March 7, 2021
Books are my favorite things to collect! Ask anyone that knows me. I have books for all ages and books in just about any genre. Every year, the first week of March, we celebrate Dr. Seuss’s birthday and the joy of reading. This post may contain affiliate links. This year we did our monthly theme of Space & Sky but we also slipped in our Dr. Seuss fun.
We had a Cat in the Hat day. Everyone had fun finding with hats. One boy wore his astronaut helmet. I wore my cap from my favorite race, Hot Chocolate 15K/5K. It was my first 5K. I’ve actually done the 15K! So fun to get a bowl full of chocolate and other goodies after the race. Right now everything is virtual but I’ve done four in Dallas.
Wacky Wednesday is one we do EVERY year. They really had fun mixing it up this year. That books is one they laugh so hard at. These kids had no trouble dressing wacky! Of course, some kids dress wacky anyway because they are learning how to pick their own clothes. We don’t mind that here. We just have fun.
We love Daisy Head Maize. We learn just how special we all are and our differences are what make us unique. Some of the kids had a harder time getting their hair to stay up and crazy. But others, it was no trouble at all. One girl had great crazy hair but did not want to be in the picture. She was cute anyway.
We had a Green Eggs and Ham day. Everyone wore green. We had green cupcakes instead of eggs. We also had a Fox in Socks day. We all wore crazy socks. That wraps up our Dr. Seuss week since we also did space. If you want to see what we did with our space theme, make sure to check out those posts.
Make sure to read to your kids. Give them books to look at daily. Teach them how to read. That is one of the greatest gifts you can give a child, the ability and joy of reading. If you are looking for some amazing books for your child’s library, you can check out my Book Lady website. There are some amazing books on there. I have SO MANY OF THEM!
