Mother’s Day At School
May 11, 2021
This year for Mother’s Day we did things a bit differently. We took the term Muffins with Mom and had the children bake muffins for their moms. We found a delicious from scratch recipe for the kids to make, Oatmeal chocolate chip.
The children decorated gift bags for their moms. Siblings decorated one bag together. They used colored pencils and stickers. Then they drew on the paper that covered the table. They love doing that.
We found these wooden picture frames for them to paint. We found out each moms favorite colors and they got to paint them however they chose. I was so pleased at how they turned out. We printed off pictures that we took for Spring.
The boys got round frames and the girls got flowers. Some of the moms took them to work for their desk. It makes me so happy to see the smiles on their faces when they saw them. We had the moms take pics with their children and gifts.
We had the children sit in chairs away from the table. Each child got to add ingredients and/or stir things as we needed to. It was really fun watching how much fun they had when it was their turn.
We found these really nice parchment paper muffin cups to make jumbo muffins. Each child got to put muffin mix in the cups so we could bake them. Each mom got one from each of her children. I am told they were VERY good. I think we will hang on to that recipe from future Muffins With Mom.
Since the kids didn’t get to eat the muffins they made, we let the kids make bagel pizzas for lunch. They had tiny bagels and put sauce and cheese on them. They had other things for lunch with the pizzas. The youngest kept trying to eat his instead of put the stuff on it. We had to make sure his was cooked quickly so he could go ahead and eat it.
We love to make our moms feel special and I think we succeeded. We are working on some fun ideas for Father’s Day.
