Morning Devotional Living Heart Healthy
January 9, 2019
I have to work pretty hard for my morning “peace” but when I do…I have a calmer spirit and can better move through my day.
I’ve “discovered” that Anne Graham Lotz has a bible study in each edition of Decision magazine. I’ve been getting those for YEARS! I decided to use that part of each magazine for my morning devotions. I started in November. This week is one from May 2012 called “Living Heart Healthy”.
The first part is looking at “Things that cause is to lose heart.” I have a day or two left on that part. The second part is called “Things that strengthen our hearts.” I look forward to that part!
One goal for each day is to start it IN the Word! To get my mind straight and focused the direction I need to be going. These are real simple and they get me looking up verses and hearing what the Lord is saying in each one. I like to underline verses in the Bible so I can focus on them any time I see them.
I’ve not mastered the art of getting up super early so I can have my quiet time just like I want it but…with a little thought and intention, I’ve made it work.
How? After all, before it’s even eight in the morning six to nine kids are here. Is it possible to have a “quiet time” with that many children in the same room? Or even one or two? It can work. I have lots of space and my room set up with different “stations”. My strategy is to give each child an area to read and a stack of books. We rotate the children to different spots with different books. Often changing WHERE they are sitting helps keep their attention longer than if I just gave them different books.
As a mom, I’ve learned lots of tricks. As a teacher, I’ve learned even more! If you want something, you will find a way to make it happen.
What is your mornings routine like? What special things do you have to do in order to make things run smoothly?
