Interactive Boards

December 12, 2020

A new addition to our school room this school year has been Interactive Boards from our wonderful curriculum company, Experience Early Learning, formerly Mother Goose Time. They add a new board each month. I’ve been upgrading my classrooms this month so things are getting a fresh look. I still have a couple of the boards to put up. I’ll share those with you when I get them done. This post may contain affiliate links.

We have had some form of weather board since I opened my school MANY years ago. But this one is fresh and new. The kids LOVE it! Most of the boards use library book pockets and popsicle sticks. For the weather board they get to learn the days of the week, the weather and putting them together. Some days we actually pick more than one for the day. It is easy to do that because they are sticks that just go in the pockets. It is at their level so they can do it themselves.

The Continents board has been the one that they have loved doing the most. It is now on a new wall and lower to their level. The pieces go into a little basket under the board and they can choose to do however many they want. They are actually learning the names of the continents! I get so excited because they will work on this several times a day. When they ask, I always say yes, unless it is time for a different scheduled activity. (We updated the continents board to be by itself.)

As you can see in this picture, he is holding the basket for her while she finds the picture on the map. Then we talk about what continent pocket it goes in. Once again, we used library card pockets and popsicle sticks. These used small ones. If you ever wondered if a four-six year old could learn this kind of thing, wonder no more. They get excited to tell you which pocket it belongs. When they get it right their eyes light up! This is their favorite interactive board so far.

We also have a numbers and shapes board, PLUS a new birthday board. Each child got to pick the color jumbo craft stick for their name and birthday.

Our learning board also has some interactive pieces. We take our unit poster down and the paper “magnifying glasses” and they search for the pictures in the poster. Each one has a question or instruction for them to find. We keep our monthly CD in the CD player and play it throughout the day. We play specific songs each day and watch the videos to learn the movements. I love the changes in these pieces for the new school year. They fit nicely on my board and they are cute, too!\

That is the glimpse into our classroom for today. Come back soon for MORE fun posts.
