In The Nest

April 14, 2020

This week we had a LOT of fun. Our topics were “nest”, “egg”, “hatchling”, “bird food” and “learning to fly”. This post may contain affiliate links. One of the Steam Stations recommended in our curriculum, Experience Early Learning, was to use blocks, bowls, leaves, sticks and other “nest” type materials to build nests. That will be left out the entire month. The first week it was used many times, sometimes even more than once in a day.

We used this shredded paper to make a nest with a paper sack but used the leftovers for our steam station. I love all the resources we are given with our curriculum. We use the anything we don’t use for other things. It never goes to waste because the kids use their imagination to go even farther.

During this month, some of our students worked from home. They did video lessons from me and went and did the crafts and discussion time with their helper.

I love the Invitation to Create activities because it doesn’t matter what the students come up with as long as they use their imagination. These two boys created THEIR versions of a nest.

These are really simple activities to do at home. Give building a nest a try with your child!
