Book Review: Shadowed Witness by Angela Carlisle

Picture
Book two in this series did not disappoint. It had some secondary characters from book one, plus the two main characters, Corina and Bryce.

Allye Jessup is Bryce's sister. She is quirky and a bit clumsy. She is experiencing some growing health issues that doctors are trying to find answers to.  She is keeping it to herself until they find a correct diagnosis. She witnesses a potential murder, but no one believes her.  There was no body where she says it should be and the one who found her says she fell down the stairs.  She begins to wonder if she really saw what she thinks she did.

Eric Thornton is a police officer that helped solve the case in book one. He is now a police detective and gets called to help with her case. He is drawn to help her despite the doubt others have because he knows her well enough to know something happened. When he sees the bruises on her neck, he knows it wasn't because of falling down the stairs. He really wants to help her and gets very concerned as odd things start happening, including threats warning her to retract her story.

It is fast paced with mystery popping up at every turn. I had to keep reading to find out how it would turn out. I kept thinking I knew who was behind it but there were so many twists that I had to rethink it. There were a few surprises when it all unfolded.

I'm looking forward to book three. I know she is going to have more mysteries to solve.
