Hey Y'all!
Hey Y’all! I’m Terri and I am literally a “simple Texas girl”! I’ve lived here my whole life and while I did hope to move out of state a couple of times, I am glad that door never opened because I do love my Texas!
I met my husband when I was just 14 years old and we married 3 years later. We grew up in a small city and moved to the Metroplex after we got married. We have been married over 43 years. It took us a few years to have kids, despite the fact that I wanted nothing more than to be a mom as quickly as possible. God had other plans. We have 4 adult children, 14 years between the oldest and youngest. We experienced several losses between those years, but we are so thankful for the 4 we were able to have and raise. We have also been blessed with nine grandchildren, so far. Our oldest is 11 and youngest is under a year old.
I am a teacher. I homeschooled my children through high school and now I am teaching some of my grandchildren and other children, too. I have been teaching since 1997 and while things have changed a bunch since then, I still find great joy in teaching children how to read and learn new things.
I have a few favorite things that I LOVE to do more than other things; reading is at the TOP of that list. I learned to read at a very early age and spent most of my childhood, teen and young adult years with my nose in a book. As I had children and opened my school, it became harder to find time to read on a personal level but that didn’t stop me from collecting as many books as I could. I joined a writer’s group and met some amazing authors. I began getting on influencer lists and doing book reviews. I love sharing with other readers the amazing books I have found. I have let my desire to write fall by the wayside, and I've decided the time is right to get back to it. It is time to share the stories God puts in my heart to share.
I started running in 2015. I have had my ups and downs when it comes to my running and fitness. I am getting back into it this year with a race in early February. I have some big races I want to do, and it is going to be so fun to share them here. I've found an amazing company that has many types of workouts and running audios. They add more often. It is Made4. You can use your computer or an app on your phone or TV. This is an affiliate link that will help me out a little when someone signs up but there is no added cost to those who use it.
I've recently started milling my own wheat and making bread with it. I'm excited to try new recipes and different types of grains. It's a really big topic these days on social so I want to share what I have learned with others who might be looking for some guidance.
Quilting is a craft that I love but I don't have the resources I want to do it the very best I can. My goal is to get those and start making quilts for all my kids and grandkids this year. Talk about a HUGE undertaking! Let's see if I'm up for the challenge.
I MIGHT just share some travel adventures here because I do love to explore new places with my husband and family.
Thanks for stopping by. I hope you find a book you want to read and that this blog will encourage you to find and do the things that bring you joy.
