Our final week of Dinoland was loads of fun. This post may contain affiliate links. We had four weeks of fun ways to learn about dinosaurs thanks for our Experience Early Learning Curriculum.
Since we live in Texas, we have been enjoying some warmer weather. The kids have had a great time running around outside in the sunshine. It is so important for everyone to get outside and breathe the fresh air and get that sunshine on your skin. It also makes our days less stressful when they get to run off that extra energy all kids have.
Our kids LOVE learning about volcanos. We watch videos about them and enjoy seeing experiments with things that work LIKE a volcano. We started out doing this Make & Play by coloring the paper bowls but ended up getting brown paint AFTER they finished making them with the tissue stuck in the top. The kids enjoy painting and it helps them learn to use those fine motor skills.
This month’s postcard activity was to draw their favorite dinosaur on it so they could send it to share with someone else. We finished up our letters for the month with the letter V, volcano! One of the games in our curriculum this month was to roll the die and collect “bones”. We got to count how many we collected at the end. We did it a little differently than you might expect. On this day, we decided we would have one game piece. But each child took a turn to roll the die. We went around the board three or four times then added the bones up at the end, together.
We had fun making dino tracks with little mini dinosaurs and brown paint. We also used some green paint to make trees and grass on the sides of each trail. We had the kids pick out a dinosaur they wanted Miss Jenni to draw for them so they could paint it. Some kids still had their volcanos at school so they used their mini dinosaurs and the volcano and the track pictures to play for a bit. We love our Make & Play activities. We often use them more than one day.
We hope you check back with us next weekend to see the fun things we are doing with our Global Passport theme! It is going to be so much fun!
